Google and Facebook are no longer the best places to work for as per the recent Glassdoor Survey

Glassdoor recently conducted its best places to work for globally and identified the top 100 places to work for. This annual list is formalized by taking into account the views of the employees within the organization based on areas such as compensation, benefits and senior management. The survey comprised of 55 million employee review and also included 1 million companies under it’s umbrella.

Surprisingly Google and Facebook are no longer in the top 10 as per the recent study. Facebook which was on the top of the list not so long ago has gone down significantly. Google ranks 11 and Facebook ranks 23 on this list. Last decade facebook was on top of the list 3 times. Google was on top of the list just 4 years ago. Facebook ranked 7th last year. Also it’s worth noting the fact that, Apple came in 84th spot and Amazon is not even in the top 100. Amazon has not made into this list for 12 years. This really could be a great statement for many big tech companies which may be losing their sign among the brightest of the minds.

The continuous decline may be attributed to their more political involvement and also people in the company are no more considering their contribution to be significant enough to improve the society overall. Recent privacy issues in Facebook might have contributed to it’s decline as well. As these companies go bigger the contribution of each individual is getting reduced and they might be considering their contribution to be as significant as before.

Hubspot, a cloud computing software company grabbed the top spot. Management consulting firm Bain & Company comes in at No. 2 and is one of only three companies to appear on Glassdoor’s annual ranking every year since its inception 12 years ago. At number 3 is DocuSign, an electronic signature company based in San Francisco. Microsoft is one of the very few tech companies which has improved it’s position vis-a-vis last year.
