Battery Drains Comparison : While using Wired Earphones vs Bluetooth Earphones

Most of the people believe that using Bluetooth consumes a lot of battery compared to not using Bluetooth. This is something most people have believed even without doing any tests themselves. Which also implicitly mean that using a Bluetooth earphone consumes more battery than wired earphones. So even if some people have Bluetooth earphones at times they do not use the same as they believe, it may consume more battery and their battery may get drained out. This test though is done in a specific condition with a specific mobile phone and Bluetooth headset, but this can be extrapolated to other cases as well.

TechnicalSky did a great test to bust this myth that Bluetooth headsets always take more battery compared to wired earphones. The test was conducted for 20 mins with Videos and with phone calls. The phone used for this test is Realme X which has a battery life close to 4000 mAh which is inline with most of the mobile phones available in the market today.

The result that came out from the test was pretty interesting and unexpected for many. The video viewing was more efficient with the Bluetooth headsets where as the calls were more efficient on the wired earphones. Even though the difference is not significant enough for a 20 minute test with a difference of 1% but when it comes to 2-3 hours of use the different would be significant. Below image outlines the result and as you can see you should use the video call with Bluetooth and phone calls with wired ear phones.
